Computers and Writing 2020 Rescheduled for Spring 2022
January 21, 2021
In consultation with 7Cs, we'll be moving the Computers & Writing conference planned for 2020 (and postponed to 2021) to 2022, with more specific dates to be announced. In order to keep conversations going this year while we wait for a return to in-person interaction, we will organize a set of virtual conversations in May/June 2021 designed to keep important C&W conversations going as we imagine what changes may be important to make for 2022. The topic for the 2022 conference will remain “Practicing Digital Activisms” and we will circulate the revised call this summer, but we also want to engage the C&W community around what that theme means in the wake of a global pandemic and a failed coup-d’etat. We believe this timing will allow us to be responsive to the needs of our C&W community and to (re)imagine an even better in-person conference as we build a new program for 2022.
We hope that you are staying healthy and safe.

March 17, 2020
The Computers and Writing 2020 conference “Practicing Digital Activisms” at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC, May 14-17 has been canceled due to the public health risks associated with Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
We are sad to have to make this decision. However, given the uncertainty of travel restrictions at so many colleges and universities, the CDC’s recent guidance to cancel or postpone all events with 50 or more people for the next eight weeks, and our own university’s recommendation that we cancel or postpone this conference, we have no choice at this time. We hope that letting you know now will allow you to receive refunds on any travel arrangements you have already made. Likewise, if you have already registered for the conference, you will receive a refund.
Please know that we were very excited about welcoming you to ECU and Greenville, NC, and we were working hard to make C&W 2020 an inclusive and accessible conference. We were really looking forward to reconnecting with many of you and welcoming new people to the C&W community. We are thankful to everyone who has contributed to the planning of C&W 2020, as well as to participants who planned to attend.
We’re happy to report that we will be able to host Practicing Digital Activisms here at ECU in 2021. We are working with ECU to establish the dates, and we’ll be in touch soon with more details.
Stay safe out there.
